Hon. Mizengo Kayanza Pinda
Honorable Mizengo Pinda was born on 12th August 1948 in Katavi Region. is a Tanzanian CCM politician who was Prime Minister of Tanzania from 2008 to 2015. He was elected a Member of Parliament for Mpanda East constituency in the 2000 general election, and he was thereafter appointed by the former President Benjamin William Mkapa to be the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office overseeing Regional Administration and Local Governments. He was promoted to the rank of a full Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, while remaining in charge of Regional Administration and Local Governments, in the Cabinet named on January 4, 2006 by the fourth phase President, His Excellency Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete.
Hon. Mr. Mizengo Pinda is also an immediate former Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania who proudly served our country from 2008 to 2015
Education
Honorable Mizengo Pinda went to Kakuni Primary School and Kaengesa Seminary in Rukwa region from 1957 to 1964 and later, to the then St Francis Secondary school, currently known as Pugu Secondary School, between 1965 and 1968. In 1969 – 1970 he attended Musoma Secondary School for advanced level studies. He further went to the University of Dar es Salaam for a Bachelor degree in Law (LLB) between 1971 and 1974. Kambarage Nyerere and later his successor Ali Hassan Mwinyi between 1978 and 1995
Position Held
Upon the completion of his degree within the same year Honorable Mizengo Peter Pinda was posted as State Attorney in the Ministry of Justice where he spent 4 years before moving to State House to become Assistant Private Secretary to the then President, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere
